David Atkinson

David Atkinson,
a native of Decatur, Georgia, has been active at Actors Co-op since first performing in Guys and Dolls in the 1996/97 season. Since then, he has been seen on the Co-Op stage in You Can’t Take It With You, Man of La Mancha, The Spitfire Grill, and most recently, The Boys Next Door (u/s). Currently, David serves as a member of the Board and Executive Committee at Actors Co-Op.

Theatre: Los Angeles audiences have seen David in productions of Standard Safety at Theatre West, Bicoastal Disturbances at The Tamarind Theatre and in All in the Timing and See How They Run at The Upper Room. Before coming to L.A. David acted and directed in Atlanta and Chicago. Favorite shows include, The Foreigner, The Dreamer Examines His Pillow, Scapino, Steven Berkoff’s Lunch and Shakespeare’s Othello. Originally a musical performer, David has also appeared in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, The Music Man, Oklahoma!, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Pirates of Penzance, among others. He has honed his improv skills with The Annoyance in Chicago and Liquid Comedy in L.A.

Television and Film: Most recently David annoyed John Larroquette as the easy-going Russell in McBride for The Hallmark Channel. He also terrorized Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis in Christmas With the Kranks, strangled Tom Berenger in Arthur Hailey’s The Detective and confounded Burt Reynolds in The Last Producer. Some other credits: Surviving Christmas, Straight From the Heart, La Femme Musketeer, Suddenly Susan and Hard Ground.

David holds a BFA in Acting from The University of Georgia. He is Co-owner of a voice casting/loop group called Vocal Yokels.
